Migraines are more than “just a bad headache.” For many people, migraines are debilitating, causing intense head pain, neck stiffness, light sensitivity, nausea, and missed days of work or family time. While medications can help manage symptoms, they often do not address why migraines keep coming back.
This is where chiropractic care can play an important role.
The Spine-Migraine Connection
The neck (cervical spine) houses nerves that directly communicate with the brain, head, and face. When spinal joints lose proper alignment or motion, often due to poor posture, stress, injuries, or repetitive strain—nerve irritation and muscle tension can develop. This dysfunction can contribute to migraine triggers, especially when the upper neck is involved.
Many migraine sufferers also report:
- Chronic neck and shoulder tightness
- Headaches that start at the base of the skull
- Head pain worsened by posture or screen time
These are all signs the spine may be part of the problem.
